1. Agreement

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and the company you represent, and you confirm that you are authorized to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

2. What the Service is

ePermit is a business tool for solar and electrical contractors and permit service companies. It stores project information; generates drawings, calculations, labels and checklists; researches published jurisdiction and utility requirements; tracks submittals, corrections and inspections; and lets a company's field technicians and its customers take part from the app.

Companies are created on the web at epermit.net. The app is used by a company's office users and field technicians and by the homeowners the company invites.

The Service is a drafting, research and tracking tool. It is not engineering, legal or code-compliance advice and does not replace the judgment of a licensed professional.

3. Not a government service

ePermit is not a government agency and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any city, county, state or federal agency, or any utility. It does not issue, approve or guarantee permits. Permits are issued only by the jurisdiction, and inspections are made only by its inspectors.

4. Your responsibility for submissions

You are responsible for every document you submit to a jurisdiction, utility or customer. Before relying on anything the Service produces, a qualified person on your side must review it, including calculations, drawings, equipment data, research results and generated text. We do not guarantee that a permit application will be accepted, that a design complies with any code, or that research results are complete or current. Jurisdiction requirements change, and local staff may ask for more than what is published.

5. Accounts and security

Keep your sign-in details confidential and use the two-step sign-in the Service provides. You are responsible for the people you invite into your company's account and for everything done through your account and your API keys. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe an account or key has been compromised. You can delete your account at any time as the privacy policy describes.

6. Plans and payment

The ePermit app is free to download and contains no in-app purchases. Company plans, plan sets and research credits are bought on the web at epermit.net through our payment processor, Stripe.

A new company starts on a free trial with the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until cancelled. Research credits are prepaid, used one per research run, and are not refunded except where the law requires it. If a payment fails, the account becomes read-only after a grace period and may be suspended. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; a change applies from your next renewal.

Permit services

A permit service company that works through ePermit may charge its client company for a real-world service: preparing documents, filing with the city, visiting the site. That fee is agreed between the client company and the permit service company, is paid through Stripe Checkout (Stripe's secure page, opened from the web or from the app), and is not an in-app purchase. The permit service company is responsible for the service it provides. City, plan-check and state fees are the property owner's or the contractor's and are paid to the jurisdiction.

Homeowners pay nothing in ePermit.

7. Your content

You own the information, photos, documents and generated packages in your account. You grant us the right to host, process, back up and transmit that content as needed to run the Service, including sending the relevant parts to the service providers listed in the privacy policy. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, including customer and site information, and for complying with the laws that apply to it.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to submit documents you know to be false. Do not share one person's sign-in between people, resell access, probe or disrupt the Service, work around plan limits, scrape it or reverse engineer it. Do not ask a homeowner to do work that needs a qualified person, such as opening an electrical panel or going onto a roof. API keys are for your company's own integrations.

9. Third-party and automated content

Jurisdiction handouts, ordinances, utility rules, equipment specifications and parcel data come from public and third-party sources. Research results, panel reads and narrative text are produced with automated systems, including AI models, and can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. The Service shows its sources so that you can check them; checking them is your responsibility.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and back it up regularly, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change or retire features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what your plan includes.

11. Cancellation and termination

You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the billing page; it stays active until the end of the period already paid. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, after notice where practical. After a company's account closes, its data can be exported for 30 days and is then deleted, subject to backups and legal retention.

12. The app on Apple devices

  • These terms are between you and NameVerse, INC., not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Your license to the app is limited to using it on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules in the App Store terms allow.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; write to us for support.
  • If the app fails to conform to a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • Apple is not responsible for any claims about the app or your use of it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection and intellectual property claims; we handle them as these terms say.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you as to the app.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, or rejected or delayed permits, arising from the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

15. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your submissions, your content or your breach of these terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and, for material changes, tell company administrators by e-mail or in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the new terms.
